There is a way for you to carry your dirt bike with the BMW but all of the trailer hitches available for the 2014 BMW 3 Series X Drive are Class I hitches that can only handle up to 200 lbs of tongue weight. Even if there were a higher class rated hitch available for the BMW, it is not a good idea to exceed the tongue weight rating in your owner's manual because you are only as strong as your weakest component. I spoke with my contact at Curt Mfg. and found that the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11756, will not fit on your BMW 335D vehicle. At this time there is not a trailer hitch available for the 335 Diesel models.

The Yakima BedRock HD # Y01160-58 isn't designed for this purpose so it's not something that has been tested, but you could likely make it work since the clamps will open up to accept a 2" tall bar for mounting. We have great bike racks that can be used with bikes that have fenders but since the Kuat Sherpa part # SH22P grabs the bike tires by the top of the tire it can't work with fenders. For a fendered bike the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 would be a really great option as it has easy to use frame clamps and also tilts like the Sherpa.

The Thule OutWay Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH65JV, will fit on your 328 convertible since it mounts to the bumper and trunk in the same way as hanging type carriers. However, the weight of this very sturdy carrier (about 28 lbs) plus that of the two loaded bikes (up to 33 lbs per bike) makes for a significant load on the rear bumper cover and trunk of your 328 convertible.

The Curt trailer hitch # C11367 does fit your 2014 BMW 328d sedan. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
